Raphael and Laura
Time is flying .. I just have to say it again and again. My sister and her husband have been here last weekend and now on Wednesday arrived my best girlfriend Laura and my brother Raphael. (They’re a couple for about two years) … Look at them – I love to take pictures of them. They’re so beautiful and absolutely in love. They’re seeing each other everyday and just can’t be without the other. We’ve headed to Piazza Venezia and then to the Olympic Stadium. AS Roma and Fulham were playing (Roma won of course). Now I’m just getting ready to go out and have dinner with them. I love love love them… It’s so great to have the best girlfriend in town. Having caffè and gossiping about sooo many things. I can’t say how much I missed her! So.. heading for a good Pizza .. 12 days left my dears … I don’t wanna leave Rome – it’s my home …

Olympic Stadion
By the way .. it was her 20th birthday two months ago .. u know what he gave her as a present? He told her that she has to be on day x at the station and they will do something … a surprising trip… u wanna know where they went? PARIS … a weekend in the beautiful city of love … I’m so proud of him .. well done bro!

Huh.. it’s been a while. I’ve been pretty busy during the last weeks. 2 days after Patrik left did my parents come and visit me for 4 days. It’s been nice to show them around. They’ve been very interested in all the historical things (especially my mum – she couldn’t get enough to see) and we spent a lot of hours together. We’ve been in the Vatican Museum and it was also for me the first time. I really love that – also after months you still discover places, museum, attractions etc. Afterwards a good friend came and we had a great time together. Going out with friends, shopping, good dinners and drinks. On the 1st October did we (my colleagues from work and me) go together to Bolsena. It’s about 150km north of Rom very close to Tuscany. We made this businesstrip and it’s been great. Just to go out of the city and have a relaxed day in a beautiful village. Bolsena is at the lake of Bolsena and surrounded by grape – and olive plantages. We had an incredible good 4-course meal and just time to relax and enjoy the sun. Let me show you some pics of this beautiful day.
Wow.. and day by day I’m realising a bit more that it’s already October – almost November! I’ll move back home on the 19th November .. I have to admit .. I’m a bit afraid of it. How will it be to live in again in village with a population of 6′000? (Rome has about 6′500′000). Not to have all these italian things around … hm…this international feeling here in Rome with all the people from different countries… probably will it be a shock at first .. but I’ll get used to it .. but hey .. lets enjoy the last 26 days here in bella Roma! My sister and her husband are coming this weekend. Will be great! So.. let me show you the pics and I’ll will hopefully update my blog a bit more often in the future.
Sleep well out there!

My boyfriend Patrik was from the 23th until yesterday eve here in Rome. We had such an amazing time! Of course did we do some sightseeing. Colosseum at night, Fontana di Trevi, Via del Corso, Gianicolo, Vatican and so on and on. Pizza, Pasta, Gelati and caffè. And we had dinner at an incredible cute and romantic restaurant at Piazza Navona. It’s called “Dolce Vita” and I’ve always wanted to go and have dinner there with Patrik. And then we had it. On our last evening and it was perfect. The atmosphere with candles, live music and the beautiful Piazza. But not just the atmosphere also the food was delicious. Bruschetta with tomatoes as antipasti, good Salmon Penne for me and Pesto Spaghetti for Patrik and all this with a good bottle. I’ll never forget this evening. So now.. Patrik already left and is back home in Switzerland. It was hard to say goodbye and we won’t see us for 50 days – until I’m moving back in November. But I bet the time will just fly. Tomorrow evening are my parents coming to Rome for a long weekend. I’m looking forward to show them my favourite places and to walk with them around. So just a few impressions of the last wonderful days.

… I can’t really believe it. In just four days will I pick up my boyfriend at the airport here in Rome! He will stay for 6 days. I can’t wait to show him all the beautiful places. The Colosseum and Vatican, to have a picnic at Villa Borghese and Villa Pamphili, to eat Gelati at my favourite sicilian spot and to eat Pizza at Pizza Forum. But what I’m really looking forward to is waking next to him, hugging him whenever I want and just being around him…. I can’t wait and I’m already getting nervous…

Here are some impressions of the beautiful apartment of my best friend Laura. We had the graduation dinner last Friday at her place (her mum cooked some typical food from Finland) and some pics from the birthday dinner we had at a restaurant in Meilen last Saturday. I’m so in love with Laura’s apartment and I would love to move in! Her mum is an unbeliviable talented painter (u see the pic with the clouds above – she made it! Beautiful, right!). You just feel like home and it’s soo cozy. Have a nice Sunday evening my dears!

I’m back from another amazing weekend. After an unspectactular flight from Rome to Zurich with a good glass of white wine did Laura, Rahel and my mum pick me up at the airport. I was so overwhelmed by seeing them. My bf joined us during a yummi Tazo Iced Chai Tea Latte and well I can’t express how happy I was to see him! The weekend was full of surprises, seeing my family and friends, celebrating two birthdays, the wedding anniversary (30 years!) of my parents, graduation of my best girlfriend, delicious food, dining out etc etc etc … A weekend full of joy, love and happiness. It couldn’t have been better. Here the first pics of it… From the flight on Thursday evening and the graduation on Friday in Zurich. Buona notte a tutti.

..my beautiful friend Rahel - she just came back from a 6 month trip in New Zealand / Australia...

..my amazing best girlfriend Laura - here after her graduation in Zurich...

Another busy week so far. From having chinese take-away on Monday to a great dinner with two such beautiful girls on Tuesday. We had dinner at “Gusto’s N°28″. The food was great and the white wine even better. Freya is an english teacher here in Rome and comes from New York. Cath is an opera singer and from Norway. She’s leaving tomorrow and is moving back to Oslo. So we had a goodbye-dinner. It was sooo nice and I just loooove them. Afterwards an unforgettable drive on a motorino to Piazza Vittorio where they have an openair cinema from June-September. We’ve met up with some other friends and watched the movie “Yes Man” with Jim Carrey. It was just hilarious funny and Jim Carrey is in his best form. Go and watch it if you can!
Yesterday did I meet two other girls – one from Florida and one from Vienna, Austria. The one from Vienna will move back today and so we had another “last-evening-in-Rome”. After some delicious Strawberry Tiramisu and Profiteroles at “Pompis” – Re di Roma did we enjoy a Chocolate Shot in Trastevere. Oh I’ll miss this girl…
So and ya.. I’ll leave as well. Well actually just for the weekend. I’m flying back to Zurich tonight as it’s the graduation of my best girlfriend Laura tomorrow and her 20th Birthday on Saturday and the 30th wedding anniversary of my parents on Sunday… So one big party after the other are coming up! My flight back to Rome is on Monday evening. Ah I can’t wait to take-off tonight and hug my bf at Zurich airport .. in exactly 10 hours… *sooo exciting* So I’ll see you after the weekend with tons of new pics and stories! baci baci a tutti

After Shakespeare awesome “Othello” at the Globe Theater in Villa Borghese did I have a chilled and relaxed weekend. Bookshopping on Friday, beach (Santa Marinella) yesterday and today reading, relaxing and doing nothing… Santa Marinella is a little village at the seaside circa 70km north of Rome. It can be easily reached by train from Romes Mainstation. It takes you about an hour and within 3 min. walking from the station you’re at the beach. Definitely a place I’ll go again!
Hope you had a relaxed weekend as well….

Weekend Breakfast
What a perfect lazy Saturday. After a gread ladies night last night inclusive Mojitos along the Tevere, Pizza at 2am, Gelati at 3am and a crazy bus driver. So… let’s go on with a relaxing weekend. Waking up at 11am, drink a strong espresso, have Cantuccinis (which I made yesterday (> see the recipe under the next pic)) and a yogurt with pineapple and grapes for breakfast and start to edit photos. It was so hot today that I thought of staying home, but I wanted to buy a new book… so I headed to Feltrinelli International and came out with four new books. Ice Coffee in a bar and then laying on a bench in Park Villa Glori and start to read (started with “Notes from a big country” by Bill Bryson – go for it – so much fun) and after two hours reading did I walk back home. So here I am… Hope you had a relaxing Saturday as well! Baci
Cantuccini
Ingredients…
- 3 clementines
- 200g hazel nuts
- 400g flour
- 1 dash salt
- 1/2 (4g) baking soda
- 1 pack (8g) vanille sugar
- 250g sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 yolk
How to make…
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Wash and dry the clemtines. Abrade the peel and press out the fruits. Chop the hazel nuts and roast them without fat or oil in a pan.
- Mix the flour, salt, baking soda, vanille sugar and sugar in a bowl.
- Add the eggs, the peel of the orange and 3 spoons of the pressed clementines juice by and by and mix all to a dough. Add the hazel nuts.
- Make 2 roles a diameter of about 6cm and lay it down to a tray. Flatten it & spread it with the yolk.
- Bake the dough in the hot oven for 15min. Take it out and spread it with the rest of the clementines juice. Cut pieces like 1cm thick. Lay them on the tray and bake them for 8min. Take them out, reserve all and bake again for about 8min.
